Bumphead Parrotfish train at USAT Liberty

Witnessing a bumphead parrotfish train at USAT Liberty is first rate diving in Tulamben!

A pinnacle in scuba diving memory for many guests is witnessing a school of the gentle bumphead parrotfish (Bolbometopon muricatum) exiting from the USAT Liberty Shipwreck. This enormous species, of the parrotfish family, can grow as long as 1.3 metres! Suffice it to say that many a diver commit such a breathtaking sight to memory, particularly when there are about 20-30 of them and at distance of a metre or less! They’re not shy of divers whatsoever, but rather curious. And even snorkelers can see them from the surface as the giant fish swim about the shallow area!

Nothing like having a ‘staring contest’ with a bumphead parrotfish for a diver! So come in to our shop in Tulamben, or contact the Bali Dream Divers team, to organise a ‘Try Dive’ with one of our PADI Instructors if you aren’t a certified diver yet and meet our local underwater residents!
